Hallo
The first four chapters establish the characters, the middle section looks at the different development of they boys and how their fear increse. The last four chapters show the solution of this problem by killing the opponent, before they are rescued from a naval officer.
For Jack, power serves him to gratify his desire. Im Sinne von dienen.
He is only interested to get power about the other which enables him to live out his urge to power.
He offers the boys to have fun by hunting and offers the boy plenty of meat and he protects the boys for the beast.
The book people keep the books alive by memorizing books, therefore the content of the books arent loss, although the government enacts to burn them.
